Piano, Theory and Composition Lessons

Are you interested in learning piano, music theory, or composition/songwriting?

Cassandra has taught piano, composition, songwriting, and singing/entertainment techniques for nearly eighteen years. Her students have gone on to attend the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and place in various local and regional composition competitions. Cassandra has been a guest lecturer on music education, piano pedagogy, and composition at Kalamazoo College, Roosevelt University's Chicago College of Performing Arts, and for the Gilmore Festival's Educational Programs.

Cassandra believes in approaching learning music in a three-fold way: through learning to read music, learning to listen and aurally transcribe music, and writing it! That way, you can always be sure to make the music you want to create. With a master's in art music composition and a 13-year international performing career in pop/rock, she understands the joy and value of all musical styles.

Each lesson is uniquely planned and tailored to meet each student's individual goals using structured books, technical exercises, and personally selected pieces of the student's choice! Cassandra does not use a cookie-cutter approach to music education, instead, each student's needs and aspirations are taken into consideration when constructing a musical education program.
